The Leapfrog® Text and Learn offers several fun
options for kids. It comes in three different, main
modes:
The first mode offer
letter matching. This is where your little one presses a
letter and will here the device tell them the letter and a word example with an image.
The second mode offer is the
shape identification game. This has the kids
navigate the Scout cursor to certain objects for identification.
This will teach them the arrow keys. There is also
a second game where bubbles with letters in them start rising to the top of the screen. The little ones will need to hit the letter in the bubble to get it to
burst.
The third mode allows
for text messaging with Scout. Here, they receive text
messages from Scout and can send him messages. The messages don’t
have to make sense as they work either way. There are also some
other games in this mode that focus on teaching other basic learning skills like days of the week for
example. One mode in this section is a music mode where Scout the
dog will dance around as the music plays.

The Leapfrog® Text and Learn toy offers kids a chance to play with a child’s
PDA. In this one, kids will be able to get
a hand held game system that is similar in size to a gameboy. The kids will find there is a keyboard and several buttons and arrow
keys. These buttons and arrow keys allow the
kids to choose the various games.
For a number of the games, the
kids will be helped by their electronic buddy, Scout The Dog. He guides them through several games and is their text message
friend. They can send and receive text messages from
Scout.
Beyond this, the manufacturer
recommends this game for those 36 months to 5 years old.
This is a good age range although some kids younger than 36 months could certainly enjoy this
game.
The game also weighs a mere 1.2
pounds which means this game can easily be handled and carried around with them just about
anywhere. In addition, the size dimensions are 2.2 x 9 x 10.5
inches which makes for pretty easy handling as well.
